Player Availability Change Alerts

ALTA Tennis, Availability, Captains, USTA Tennis Comments Off on Player Availability Change Alerts

Captains, you can now receive email alerts when a player updates their availability!

For instance, lets assume you are busy in your “non-tennis life” and haven’t yet created that week’s lineup yet, but you have a pretty good idea which players are going to play which line. What happens though when one of your key player’s has a change in schedule and isn’t available? In the past you wouldn’t see this until you checked out the “set/view availability” page or when to “create lineup” — now instead you can be alerted by email when someone becomes not available or available. Yes, all the team’s registered captains and co-captains receive the email.

What happens if you were a touch more prepared though with a “draft lineup” for this coming weeks match? Well you can get alerts then too if the player changes their availability.

Could we have made the availability alerts really simple — send you an email EVERY time someone enters/edits their availability? Yes, we could have but then you would just start to ignore the emails since you have no action to take based off the email you got… kind of like those who just click a “reply to all” — sorry to digress 😉 Technically if you want to get TONS of emails on all changes you can change the last setting (no lineup alerts) to be a really large number like 90 days and that would generate lots of emails in case you do want them.

You can find the availability alerts in the “set availability” page for the team. Below is a screen shot of the “availability alerts”. Check it out for your next team and stay informed as a captain!

FYI, we also moved the “auto-nag” settings here as well so that all the “availability page” setting are in the same place.

Rain Mode Available Now…

Availability, Captains, Lineup, Rain Comments Off on Rain Mode Available Now…

Rain is inevitable in the Fall and Spring and we have now enabled a rain mode to help with this. Rain mode will enable the team to keep up with when & where the rain makeup match will take place. For instance, if you had a match this past Saturday when it was raining cats and dogs outside and the tennis courts were not going to get played anytime soon; then you could click “ Active Rain Mode” and be able to set the new match date, time and location of the match. This makeup information is by individual line as well since normally not all are available on the same date/time.

Below are the screen shots for what happens:
1. After I click on the link Activate Rain Mode, then I am present with a form for each of the lines to enter the makeup date, time and place (only show a couple lines to demonstrate below).
Activate Rain Mode

2. After I set the new makeup match date, match time and playing facility, then I get to see when it is. Plus, all my teammates know when and where to show up to cheer on our victory:

You will notice in the picture above that I am also able to edit this at anytime if it changes. FYI, the only captains, co-captains and team coaches (if you have one setup) can activate rain mode on the team. Plus each player at a line can set their new makeup times but ONLY for the line they are playing.

Got any help with our opponent captains — yes, we have a another nice time saver there as well. Since majority of the time each line arranges their makeup matches independently, we have created another email which will send the player’s contact information to the opposing captain to help get the scheduling started. Below is a screen shot of of this email and you will notice that you can choose to email based off the line as well.

Hopefully we will have LOTS of sunshine but just in case you can now be more informed with TennisPoint’s Rain Mode.

Auto-Nag your Players who haven’t set their Availability

Availability, Captains Comments Off on Auto-Nag your Players who haven’t set their Availability

Do you happen to have a player or two that forgets to set their availability for matches? Now you can setup your team to automatically email those players that haven’t set their availability fAuto Nag Players who have not set their availbility or an upcoming match. The great thing is the captain(s) can create a custom email to the players with no set availability and even define the time before the scheduled match to send the email. Here is a screen shot of that area when creating/editing a team:

An example would be…. I want to send out an email 9 days before our next scheduled match to players who haven’t set their availability. My Email would look like this:

John,

Please take 2 minutes and set your availability for upcoming matches on TennisPoint.com. I would like to create the lineup ASAP.

Click here to login automatically into your account and click on “Set Availability” please.

Thanks,
Jeremy

NOTE: The personalized yellow highlighted text above will be INSERTED by TennisPoint when the email is sent. All that you need to do is put in your “generic” message and yes you can have fun with this message since the ONLY one that will see it is you and the “offending” player.
